Welcome
to our application page
The application period for MK&G messe 2024 runs from April 1 to 30, 2024, exclusively online.
The call for applications is aimed at applied artists, craftspeople and designers working in any field and materials with a clear focus on producing their own works, one-offs and small-batch production. Outstanding quality is, always has been and always will be the requirement for selection by the expert jury. The MK&G messe strives to present artistic and artisanal excellence, works of uncompromising quality and beauty, but also approaches that adopt experimental and uncomfortable positions. What all the works have in common is that they are responsibly produced to the highest standards in their makers’ own workshops. The objects should be consistent with the MK&G messe’s goal of promoting appreciation for the value of durable and sustainable products.
That is the guiding principle for our expert jury, which selects both the participants and the award winners. In order to present the very best quality, we need inspiring applications from artists and craftspeople like you. We look forward to hearing from you!
Please check the Info box (i) carefully before you start the application. Here you will be informed which files should be uploaded in the form.
Please note that the MK&G messe focuses on high-quality arts and crafts and design. Applications from the classic fields of painting and fashion design (with the exception of artists with a special focus on craft production processes or e.g. headwear) do not correspond to the spectrum.
Information about the application process
You can start the application process on this page. Before that, we draw your attention to the following points:
1. Agreement to GTC (General Terms & Conditions) and privacy policy (GDPR)
The application starts on April 01, 2023, 9 am and ends on April 30, 2023, 12 midnight (Europe/Berlin).
Before you begin your application, please read the following information all the way through. Download the GTC and privacy policy (GDPR) and read them completely as well. In the first step you will be required to agree to the GTC and privacy policy (GDPR), otherwise you will not be able to continue. Please note that no registration is required. Your data will not be stored if you discontinue the process before completing it all the way to the end. We therefore recommend that, if possible, you prepare the required texts, documents and images before beginning the input process.
Please note that the stand costs for an individual position or group amount to EUR 660 plus VAT and must be paid against invoice before the start of the fair by October 1, 2024 at the latest. For explicitly "young positions" there is the possibility of sharing a stand at the MK&G trade fair and thus the stand fees. The joint presentation area corresponds to the size of an individual position.
2. Required data and texts
Next, you will be guided through a form consisting of several pages. Besides entering general information about yourself and selecting a category, you will also be asked to provide a brief text (maximum length: 600 characters incl. spaces) about yourself and your work in free-form text (which can either be typed in directly or copy-pasted). We ask you not to write this text from the first-person perspective, but from the perspective of a third person (Example: Max Mustermann's artistic practice...). This text is your short portrait on the MK&G messe website and will be publicly accessible if your application is successful. Please prepare a PDF (max. 1 DIN A4 page) about your way of working. Please provide us with a few details! We look forward to receiving general information about your work practice. What is the message of your work? How long have you been working in this field and why would you like to take part in the fair? Please also prepare a PDF (max. 1 DIN A4 page) about your technique. What materials do you work with and what specific methods and techniques do you use and why? Please also prepare a PDF with a tabular curriculum vitae. This should include information on your career, solo or group exhibitions, any prizes etc. Please be sure to note that in addition to the selection of your works by the jury, the allocation and selection of the fair furniture will also be based on your application. Major discrepancies between the works shown in the application and those potentially exhibited are to be avoided urgently.
3. Required images
The upload of three (!) photographic images of three new (!) works that have not been presented at the MK&G messe before serves as the basis for both your application and the jury’s decision. The images must be uploaded as JPG files (2480 x 3508 pixels, approx. A4 format or 3MB per image) and provided royalty-free for potential use in press and marketing materials (see GTC).
For each image, the form contains required fields for a caption (author (first name, surname), title, material, dimensions in cm (WxHxD), year) and information about the photo credits. Please enter captions and credits according to the following scheme: Caption: author (first name, surname), title, material, dimensions in cm (WxHxD), year. Credit: © first Name, surname / Photo: © first name, surname.
In addition, please upload a b/w portrait photo as a JPG file (max. 2480 x 3508 pixels or 3MB). This picture of you will be published on mkgmesse.de if your application is successful.
4. A final note
You cannot complete your registration without uploading all the required documents and images. But don’t worry: once everything has been entered and submitted, you will receive an email confirming receipt of your application.
For young professionals who would like to share a booth, please make your own arrangements before applying; you will be asked for the name of your partner in the form. We cannot act as an intermediary.
With your successful application, you consent to the collection and processing of personal data for the respective purposes. Please note the privacy policy (GDPR).
Once the jury has reached its decision, we will notify you of your acceptance or rejection by email in the middle of June 2022.
Please refrain from individual inquiries.
We collected many of your questions for you in the FAQs on the website.
