Maya Fenderl deals with the vase as a ceramic sculpture. In her ceramics, organic and geometric forms and structures as well as rough, shiny and matt surfaces overlap to create a playful unity, which also creates a moment of surprise. Maya Fenderl has been invited to take part in the MK&G messe 2024 as a YOUNG TALENT.

Eva Benamou and Antonia Gauss are developing a textile dyeing system and exploring the creative possibilities offered by the pen plotter as a digital tool at the interface between textile craftsmanship and industrial reproduction.

Damien Ajavon is an Afropean textile artist with Senegalese and Togolese roots und will present their work at the MK&G messe 2024 as YOUNG TALENT. Their work explores the manipulation of textile fibers by hand, and their creative process is influenced by the interplay between visual and tactile experiences. 

Onka Allmayer-Beck moves clay. The Viennese artist has found a strong formal language in ceramics with a high recognition value. Proportions, movement and color are important to her; her objects are unique, small personalities.

The MK&G puts the focus on the theme of arts and crafts. Every year the MK&G messe is accompanied by a large solo exhibition from the Contemporary Craft series. 2024 Hanne Friis will be on show.

The furniture designer and artist Jakob Niemann is taking part in the MK&G messe 2024 as a YOUNG TALENT. With a focus on wood as a material, Niemann creates objects that are defined by an ecocentric and material-oriented approach. 

 

 

Every year at the MK&G messe, the Justus Brinckmann Prize and the Justus Brinckmann Förderpreis are awarded by the Friends of the MK&G. With 7500 EUR and 2500 EUR, these renowned awards are among the most highly endowed prizes in the field of arts and crafts in Germany.

Clara Schweers is a visual artist and designer based in Eindhoven (NL) and will participate at the MK&G messe 2024 as YOUNG TALENT. Her practice exists as a dialogue between digital consumption and tangible outcomes, pushing the boundaries of contemporary art and design. 

The works of sculptor Katharina Andress always move between the boundaries of fine and applied art and the transitions between wearable jewelry and autonomous artwork are fluid.

While the uniform patterns are digitally preprogrammed, the contours of the notches in the vases by Konrad Jünger and Verena Kühn result from the shape of the tool.

Anna Zimmermann is a designer and artist who lives in Vienna and London. Her work moves between object design and sculpture. Her work is material-orientated and often incorporates elements of imperfection, balance and play. At the MK&G messe 2024 she participates as YOUNG TALENT.

Driven by a utopian desire to change the habits of our capitalist societies, Yoann Piccardi has developed EggwaveWorkset: a cottage industry for reusing egg cartons.

Doerthe Fuchs' pendant jewelry are often containers or amulets enriched with messages. 

In her works, Aino Nebel questions when and how artistic values arise and how they materialize. In doing so, she explores various techniques, media and materials.

Sungkyung Yoon's works deal with the Koranic and German contexts of textiles and their uses.

Christiane Wilhelm's vessels are clearly contoured in form and are characterized by a subtle surface design.

Hyojung Yun and Jinhwi Lee are constantly developing new glazes, materials and techniques and combine stability and lightness in their objects.

Jonas Noël Niedermann's glass objects from the 'Magnetics' series are based on investigations into magnetic fields, their collision and breakage.

The materiality and form of In Jung's ceramics and vessels allow the inside and outside to become permeable.

Christoph Leuner sees his 'HOHL-KÖRPER' as containers for storing personal items and thoughts with meaning: for real, small collector's items as mementos or for wishes and ideas projected into them. 

From 28 November to 3 December 2023, the MK&G messe presented the latest trends in contemporary craft, including both up-and-coming and well-known positions, international tendencies and fresh perspectives from many disciplines ...

The winner of the Justus Brinckmann Prize 2023 is glass artist Veronika Beckh. She blows her vessels in one piece and creates biomorphic shapes with strong contrasts.

Alexandra Stein has been awarded the Justus Brinckmann New Generation Award 2023. She uses her ceramic objects like canvases and they sometimes end up on the wall.
