For me, the possibility of ceramics to challenge a patriarchal understanding of art lies at the intersection of fine art and craft. In this sense, I understand pottery as part of my (queer)feminist practice – one that questions value systems, gendered processes, and material hierarchies. By using the idea of function as a starting point for many of my objects and bringing them together with themes from pop culture, esotericism and interior design, the ceramics become representations of a joyful, female*-queer everyday reality.
